The Fellowships of Cocaine Anonymous and Co-Anon have a unique and special relationship. They are naturally drawn together by their close ties. And yet, the Twelve Traditions and the World Service entities of both Fellowships suggest that each functions more effectively if it remains “separate,” cooperating but not affiliating with the other. Each Fellowship has always had its own service structure and meeting directory. Each has recognized the importance of maintaining separate fellowships. Each has established its own policies and maintained its own services.
This separate functioning has served both C.A. and Co-Anon well. While being mindful of the impact of our disease on those who care about us and the support we receive from them, we in Cocaine Anonymous are guided by our Sixth Tradition. As such, we must ensure that our desire to cooperate with Co-Anon in
thought, action and spirit does not result in affiliation, either outright or implied. |
